Overcast with sunny periods and very warm

What a lovely rest day we had with Uncle Eddie. He drove us to visit Hexham where we had a bit of lunch then on to Corbridge.

We set of today at 8.15am and retraced our steps along Hadrians wall passed Vercovicium Roman Fort. It was already hot on what was to be an exhausting day. The twilight of Wark Forest was a relief from the sun but the mosquitoes were biting so we didn’t hang about until we met Paul for an interesting chat. He had already walked from Inverness and so we swapped website addresses.

If you want to look at his its www.walkingforlife.piczo.com

The heat was sapping our energy and by the time we got to Shitlington Crag we were finding it difficult to keep putting one foot in front of another, Colin was glad he was riding on the rucksack.

The sight of Bellingham was very welcome but we had learnt that the last few miles are normally the worst and this was no exception with a road walk to Bellingham Bridge. The final stretch along the riverbank was a welcome relief and on arrival at Lyndale it was coffee under the gazebo.

Not wanting to rush off but the whirlpool bath is waiting so its
